March 11 Quantum Astronomy Tucson One day workshop in Tucson Charting Quantum Horizons: Establishing a Roadmap for Microarcsecond Astronomy Optical interferometry has undergone a revolution in the last few years that now brings into focus the future of this rapidly developing field. In particular, achieving baselines that exceed the current limitations of a few hundred meters would push new frontiers of microarcsecond science. Such capabilities would open up an entirely new phase space of high-resolution astronomical research that could lead to breakthroughs in fields such as exoplanets, stellar physics, young stars / disks, active galactic nuclei (AGN) and supermassive black holes (SMBHs). Roadmaps for expanding baselines by several orders of magnitude over current optical imaging arrays are now being explored, where limitations due to photon loss can be addressed by quantum-enhanced methods utilizing resources such as quantum memories and entanglement. This is the ideal time to establish collaborations between the astronomy and quantum communities to ensure this opportunity for microarcsecond science can be realized. March 12 14 CHARA Meeting Tucson The Cener for High Angular Resolution Astronomy (CHARA) is located on the summit of Mt. Wilson in Southern Arizona. Thanks to its six 1.0-meter telescopes spaced well apart, it has higher resolution than any existing single telescope, no matter how large. See https://www.chara.gsu.edu/ The 2024 CHARA Science Meeting will be hosted by NOIRLab at the Graduate Hotel in Tucson, AZ on March 12-14, 2024. The meeting will bring together the CHARA community to discuss recent science results and technical developments at the CHARA Array. The meeting will include updates on new beam combiners and progress on adding a mobile 7th telescope to the Array. We welcome participation from those in the CHARA consortium and the growing community of open access observers. For details go to https://www.chara.gsu.edu/meetings/chara2024

June 4-7 National Rural STEM Tucson Designed to bring together rural educators, administrators, and community leaders who are passionate about science, technology, engineering, and math, participants will have the opportunity to attend inspiring keynote speeches, participate in hands-on workshops, and network with like-minded individuals who share their love for STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math). Take advantage of this chance to be a part of the conversation and shape the future of STEM in rural areas.   See https://azruralstemsummit.net/

Society for Astronomical Sciences Annual Symposium Thursday June 20 – Saturday June 22, 2024 Special student research session Friday evening, June 21st Ontario, California (Hilton Ontario Airport, 222 N. Vineyard Ave.) The annual SAS Symposium on Telescope Science has become one of the premier events for amateur astronomers, students, and professional astronomers. The symposium fosters pro-am collaborations and student and teacher interactions with both amateur and professional astronomers. Presentations cover a wide range of topics, including imaging basics, photometry, spectroscopy, instrumentation, and more. Observations range from near-Earth to the edges of the universe. https://socastrosci.org/symposium/
