Mt Wilson Binary Star Speckle Interferometry Observing Run
Sunday June 23 – Thursday June 27, 2024
Mt. Wilson Observatory, Angeles National Fores, California

Observations will be made on the historic 1.5- and 2.5-meter telescopes at Mt. Wilson Observatory. These observations, made over several nights, provide the data for student analysis and papers for the subsequent year.

Students will gather data on binary stars for use in student published papers after the observing run. They will write an overall paper on the run, calibration, and binaries observed (for publication and reference by subsequent users of the data). Students stay in historic Monastery and help cook meals. This is a joint run with instructors and students from several schools. Monastery space is limited. Prior co-authorship of a paper submitted for publication is encouraged.
